This post is all about the music i listen to! The story of my life is, every week i'll be hunting for new albums to purchase online or in the stores. I'm not sure whether you know, but i'm almost at 90% to complete my full new album! It's crunch time and i've been working hard on all the songs for release. The launch will be sometime in May 2011! EEEEP. End of March i will release the first single (a duet with an amazing male singer)

Anyhoo, this post is about some of the albums i've been listening to recently:

I found their link: brothersfromanother.wordpress.com and they gave two free mixtapes link to download!! These boys have a refreshing flow accompanied by beats that are happy-natured. Who knows, maybe 2011 will make them shine in the mainstream arena?

I've always been a fan of N.E.R.D, i think their music speak of versatility, varied vocal styles and creatively arranged songs. Of course, Pharrell is one sexy man! Just nod your head, don't lie ladies and gents, i know you feel the same. LOL. OK but on the real though, I have no idea what Pharrell was thinking(!!) wearing that military feather hat but regardless, he pulled it off!

My fav on this album: Perfect Defect. Hypnotize Me.

Meet DJ Mark Ronson, elder brother to Samantha Ronson (Lindsay Lohan's ex girl).

Aight. This particular album is not really a fav of mine but it is one of the albums i picked up recently. I actually fell in love with Mark Ronson's producer style in this 2007 album i heard:

It had songs like 'Oh My God' feat Lily Allen, 'Valerie' with Amy Winehouse.. and the list goes on. You should try and get this album if you haven't heard it. Seriously it's pretty amazing. Or some of my friends would say 'amazeballs'. weird.

is that familiar to you? hehehe. Ok so i have a few copies left of that EP sitting in my office, what should i do with it? I'm opening up the blog floor for suggestions. :)

Birthdays

Hi all,

This month was surprisingly super busy and FUN at the same time. I got to celebrate two birthdays with one of my best friends and my grandma who respectively turned 28 &
78 years old. Oh shoot, they probably wont like me revealing their age, my best friend
that is.. but my grandma is quite happy to be tagged as 78. She looks so young and happy!

I've realized a thing or two that's really important for birthday celebrations. When i was younger, i never really gave effort to celebrate or pick out a birthday present for
my friends and family. At the time, i was always on a money diet and I always gathered the thought that spending on presents could only come from the extra money i have.

THIS thought process is wrong!

Honestly, it doesn't take a lot of money to buy a good present for someone, all it takes
(FOR ME AT LEAST) is the genuine thought of making someone happy.

Meet one of my dear friends: Fara.

I knew from year 2003/4 that she's always been a fan of AFDLIN SHAUKI. She dragged all us girls to watch a taping of Latte@8, at the time hosted by the one and only JASON LO. AFDLIN SHAUKI was one of the guests at the show, and i saw how starstruck Fara was when AFDLIN signed his debut album for her. Later, all she kept saying was "OMG. HE"S SO FUNNY. AH, I LOVE HIM." This line was repeated throughout until we
reached home.

Funny thing is, i've never seen her so starstruck about anyone! And so i managed to get Afdlin's personal number from my manager and called him to make a special request.
I told Afdlin it would it be the best gift EVER: A priceless experience. He agreed.

That night when it happened, Afdlin sang this song to her "YOU ARE SOBEAUTIFUL,
TO ME, CANT YOU SEE..Happy birthday Fara." At first she was confused as to
who it was on the phone but when she finally realized, she kept on laughing and smiling!

Now that was priceless to watch. Afdlin, thank you so much for fulfilling that request
for me, that's how Fara looked right after the phone call. A BIG JOYFUL FACE.

I'm gonna leave you with the best photo ever. I ROFL-ed, LOL-ed, LMAO-ed
when i saw this photo of my brother's best friend, Faiz, getting creamed on his birthday
lunch. WHIP-CREAMED. His colleagues are brutal! HAHAHA

One armed DJ/ Performer part 2.

Its wednesday and i've kept to the promise of my continued blog post.
High five!!! Alright, these two girls in the photo above is testament to those in need of dire sleep.
Reason? Mereka bertungkus-lumus menyiapkan my arm sling to make me look good for the Gempak Astro Revo show. And for that, Jiha and Erma... Thank you. Thank youuuu!

Look at that bling on my arm sling.. with success they've made my arm sling look fierce! I appreciate the time you ladies spent looking at the needle and thread to sew that bling on til wee hours of the morning. (6am i heard!)

Time well spent.

Tadaaa! This was the Gempak Astro Revo event i was invited to perform at.
As visible in the poster, the legendary Amy Search is the main star of the show. What a treat, to share a stage Abang Amy, someone who's been in the industry for more than 20 years!

Rehearsals for this show began, i met up with Lisa Surihani whom i lovingly call 'COUSIN'! SAUDARA! SAYANG!! But the truth is.. after tracing back our Johor roots, with the help of my beloved mama and Tokmak.. Lisa is actually my distant aunty (?!) I dont know. All i know is, i am a fan of her au naturale pesona, intelligence and beauty. Not to mention, her acting skills are top notch!
Almost all her work (TV, Films) is something every actor/ actress should take cues from... her timing and feel of each character is flawless. She just gets it. Good on you Lis!!

Taking breaks from rehearsing, of course when the camera snaps... a pose ensues.
Lisa does not really need to memorize her lines. She has photographic memory! (err, i might need to revise this later.)

At a separate rehearsal, i met soulman Singaporean Idol, Taufik Batisah. Now this guy is someone you seriously wanna bring home to meet the whole family. AS a family friend of course! Anyhoo, the Gempak Astro Revo team decided for Taufik and I to collaborate on 2 songs for the show and i tossed in the idea of these two songs for us to cover:

Seribu Impian by Casey & Dj Got Us Fallin In Love by Usher.

How did we fare on the song? Well.... you have to wait til its ready to be televised. Taufik is a real warm, down to earth, chatty guy so we chatted whenever we got the chance to hang. On the plus side, his taste in music is deeply rooted in r&b, soul and hiphop. MY KIND OF FRIEND!! Let me fill you in on a secret, years ago (possibly in 2001), way before he joined Singapore Idol, he joined an Usher dance lookalike contest and won! He went to Usher's concert in Miami and even met the guy! And trust me when i say this... he still has smooth moves.

**Taufik will be on air with me this Sunday, 9th Jan for Fly Fm Campur Chart @ 7pm, Malaysian time.

During the performance, i took out my arm sling. Exactly when it happened... well i cant tell you. I just got quite involved with the performance i forgot the pain i felt. That night after the show however, was a different story!

But what i can share with you now is this... my younger sis told everyone Taufik Batisah is hers and HERS only to admire! Mmmhmm. Look at her (dancer, left).. that grin on her face.. pure happiness. She was over the moon and yapping about Taufik whenever he was not in the room, but in front of him.. she said very few words. How awkward and lovable of her! Hana Amira, its okay. I get you.

There were plenty of photos taken throughout the event, but these few i snagged were from their Gempak Astro fanpage on Facebook. You can search that and check out all their other updates!

This photo below is a personal favorite of mine. The whole concert was shot in HD. It was in HD make up, HD lights.. everything was done to fit a HD projected concert. Needless to say, very advanced in technical aspect. Respect!

As always, Selektaz backed me up for the show... this time around, i had 8 dancers. Do you notice the flames? Great stage effect! I will update all of you when the show's ready to be televised. For now i shall leave you with the cutest photo of the month!

Salam 2011! I dont really believe in new years resolutions because if i wanna do something, i know that i can pick myself up and just do it. But what the hey, i hope this blogging habit is consistent.

This hit me on 31st Dec 2010 whilst hosting the countdown at KLCC, especially after having a chat with @AidaArisya and @Ecahz who supported and stayed throughout the night til the countdown. Thank you sisters!

@AidaArisya said blogging is better than twitter because it's more detailed. And she's right! Betul cakap Aida!!

Ok, so back to that story i wanna tell you.

Since mid dec 2010, i've been rehearsing for Terima Kasih Cinta (TKC) theatre show which is scheduled for mid Feb - early March 2011. The training is hard; setiap hari kecuali hari Isnin, 8 jam untuk menyanyi, menari dan berlakon.

The photo above is only 1/4 of the TKC cast, we were waiting for our turn at the full dress rehearsal for Anugerah Skrin 2010. TKC was invited to give a sneak preview at the award show 24th Dec 2010.

Quite a treat while waiting for our turn... got to see Ahmad Nawab (legendary saxophonist) collaborate with Genevie Kam (violinist) and Hillary Ng (legendary Search guitarist) sound check at the venue: PWTC.

Anuar Zain was also there at the full dress rehearsal. His voice as always, sounded amazing.
He has a tone that can instantly draw heads and although it was only a soundcheck, his singing was just ~~plain~~ beautiful.

And then the worst happened to me. After TKC's turn was done at full dress rehearsal, the dimly lit stage made my vision blurry. As i tried to step off (backstage), i fell in a big gap between the stage and the backdrop completely missing the steps and falling 4 1/2 feet high.

Needless to say, my world spinned hard. I couldn't feel my right arm and my body went in shock. It's a feeling i will never forget. As i sat down waiting for help to arrive, i felt a huge snap on my right shoulder... Later i learned that my shoulder located itself back, hence the snap!

This photo was taken by my father at the hospital after seeing the doctor.
The X-Ray showed that i had a hairline fracture and muscle tear (argh!!) and the worst news he gave me is for me to avoid any physical activities for at least another month.

But i cant sit still. That's why i've decided to ignore my 2 week MC and work!!
And so i'm on air with Fly Fm daily: 10am-1pm, with the help of @maefurriel or Joanne our news presenter paneling the board for me.

I'm not done with my story yet. Watch out for my next post. How these girls stayed up til 6am to bling up my arm sling for an Astro show... i will post more on Wednesday.

Dear 800++ followers reading my blog here,

I sincerely type this from the depths of my heart.
I've been putting on hold many thoughts i've been wanting to share with you.
Many things have happened since Hari Raya in September and i've been rather private
with the on-goings of my head.

I am sorry. Sorry for ignoring this space and for not sharing my life with you as per always.
It's a little phase i am going through, wanting to keep things to myself.
I am 2 souls in one. In the day, i am the high-spirited, passionate radio announcer and host, but come evening to night, i am subdued and a little serious. And when i hit that serious note, i ponder and i create.

I can go on creating every day but i have my duty to be present; in the line of hosting work that i do.
I guess sometimes i'd like to be that shy 'painter' with mismatched clothes, but i don't blame you if you know me more as the other persona; present, chatty and passionate.

You will always see the 'present & chatty' me because that's a part of who i am.
But what i ask for is for you to also try and see the serious side of me. The side who creates.
And i have created a string of intellectual property we all term as music.

It is designed to make you forget about being serious or too present and to find that balance in the middle. That was how I created all these new songs for the album 'Pulau Janji' (The Land of Promise).

I do hope you sincerely wait for its release.

Di Hari Raya...........

The night before raya, we all got down to the goodies.
Arranging kuihs in respected 'balangs' but i made sure i tasted the yummy ones in case
it has reached the ehem, expiration date.

Pagi raya in Muar, Johor. My sister and i love our baju raya. I bought mine from Innai Batik
and my sister got hers done from Nurita Harith. Kaftans really compliment your skin on a hot raya day.
It doesnt cling on you like other fabric i.e. organza, beaded, etc.

Pretty much a decent photo of my immediate family and please do not ask me why my eldest brother,
Hafiz had to pose that way. Perhaps to accentuate his lovely chin. Brrrrr.

You can only have this once a year because its loaded with santan!
LAKSA JOHOR is what i look forward to every year if i were to go back to Muar.

Now lets work, work, work!

Alright, this self-realization might have come a little late, i realize that
this spontaneous burst of energy is fueled when my family is around. SERIOUSLY.

There was a MAIN reason why everyone was laughing or smiling from ear to ear at an aunt's birthday party recently.

My awesomely loving sister has a fetish for my behind and kept pinching it every time a photo was taken, right when the photographer felt trigger happy, BOOM. My bum was pinched, again and again by my awesome sibling. (she's the one hiding next to my aunt in the Superman shirt.)

BTW, MY TOSHIBA QOSMIO F6 is doing fine, shiny and all that.
I've given him a name too! It's Q-Daddy from now.

p/s: My dance instructor, Coery Sik named her i-phone 'Dominique' and i thought what-the-fizzle right?! Why not name my Qosmio F6?

I almost pissed in my pants.
I ranted on my blogspot saying i need a new laptop lalala,
had some extra cash from my wedding and even Mr. Ehem said
'Yeah, go treat yourself, tech wise.'

AND SO I blogged about getting a Toshiba lappie, heard it's STRONG mama of a computer.
I left it at that, and then suddenly i get a call from people of Toshiba saying they know about my blog post and was interested to engage me. WHAT???!!!

So here is my new lover, The Qosmio F60 given to me for FREE.
AWESOME. I'm happy. The fact that its a beautiful red is an added bonus.

But tech stuff about The Qosmio F60, here's what is awesome: (I'll break it down like a 10 year old)

The Speakers are frggin loud.
Windows 7
Screen is WHOA, wide.
I stored a couple of audio software: Fruity Loops & Sound Forge
and its running fast. Run run, Qosmio F60.

I took these photos this morning, i love the bright red color and how it gleams with a little bit of sun.
Since my Qosmio lover is still new, i'm still getting to know it day-by-day, so i'll keep you posted.

It looks purrty too fashioning some of my hats. Hey, why not add a little me?

Meet my two dates at Media Prima Media Night, the budak jahats:
Seelan and Premo. I was invited to sing two songs that night... I performed a cover of Michael Jackson's 'The Way You Make Me Feel' and my own 'Miss Strong'.

Everyone invited came according to the theme: Uniform Fantasy Night.

I didn't know there was a theme, so i guess i came as.. 'What if a waitress wore a Reebok in a dress'? Meh.
Meet the man who truly astounded me that night, he sang Jalil Hamid's 'Ayam' and even brought an 'ayam' on stage during the performance. Funnily enough, the ayam stayed put...
i was watching it the entire time waiting for it to poop and flap or something.

Nope, ayam was well behaved.

He's a senior writer for a well established newspaper, Mr Policeman seen in the photo.
You can tell he's a little camera shy..

There was a little backdrop where you can take photos. So lalala.

The two photos above are ladies from a VERY well known malay magazine. Their whole gang practiced for a week to do a special performance that night and looking at their outfits... ring the alarm! The Divas are in the building!!

I also managed to squeeze in this last weekend: Movemint's 2nd Anniversary which also featured Nadhira's EP Launch at Solaris, Mont Kiara.

Why do we let this happen to us?

I was in awe the other day when one of my good friends told me she felt lost and UNDESERVING of her good fortune; she comes from a stable if not a pretty wealthy family, good boyfriend and tedious amount of material things to keep a mortal soul happy.

So why was she feeling down.. lost and confused?

The word highlighted in red: UNDESERVING.

There she was, that confident spirit who would roam elite KL events felt that her existence in the world should be questioned. She does not feel belonged in a world she has always called home since the get-go.

This average height lady, with her 6 digit handbag (bought directly from Milan) has battled demons in the past and usually her antidote would be frequenting fashion shows and exclusive night events, shaking hands with the PR people who often graced her presence knowing that her perfume smelled of old money and young power.

Fergie sang ...'the glamorous, glamorous..'

Not so glamorous if demons come knocking on your window huh?
Marilyn Monroe died glamorous. Remember the classic Monroe death???
She put on her make up, beautiful clothes and overdosed herself with copious amount of pills.

Let me just quote another painful death.
Gia ( the movie that starred Angelina Jolie), the rebellious lesbian model who relied heavily on heroine just to make it through a shoot.

This heroine in the story then relied on a stranger drug-addict and stupidly shared a needle, which led to her receiving AIDS and she died.... alone in the furthest hospital bed shared by other patients.

Poor little rich girl.
Do we reach the top of the mountain and start over-thinking our failures and self doubt?

Let me quote Tyrese's blog: "Every blessing taken for granted becomes a curse. Stop going to parties and shit for photo ops, shaking hands and going home with NOTHING. Have a plan."

I hope you do. There is a FRGGIN good reason why i wrote (*) 'Miss Strong'. Maybe many would think it's just a danceable catchy tune, but shit no.

Yeah yeah, i'm not trying to toot my own horn but my point is this!!
I believe in 70% confidence, 30% humility.

SHIT. Don't let the doubt demons get you, i'm gonna roll up my sleeves and get to work when they come knocking.

Post AIM 17, everyone mad about Kembara Award

Although i felt ridiculously chic in my AIM 17 attire,
(pink songket made by Zee Eika and make up by Shu Uemura)
somehow in the photos, that lady smiling back kinda screams.....

'YO! I'm trapped in Saloma era! Get me into a current trending dress'

But i paid no attention, paying tribute to the 50's is something i needed to do;
the arts during that era was at its peak; somehow it just spoke to me.

It's different watching AIM 17 this year, everyone tweeted everything that went on, stuff you blurt to your friends and family in front of the TV are now made public. Thanks twitter, you dig people's thoughts with no effort.

So I did a post AIM-17 show on Fly Fm the following morning and called Jennifer Thompson, spoke to her about (*)Kembara Award and why Bunkface deserved it and played clips of what some of my awesome music friends thought of after their win: Yuna, Hazami, Dato' Siti and more.

But what i clarified on the show as well was the little cat fight between Atilia Haron and Zee Avi.

It was all over twitter....... Atilia RT-ed a tweet posted by a friend saying Zee Avi had lipstick stained teeth because she's been a snob since she's been to US and that obviously sparked animosity from both sides.

Badabim-badaboom, Atilia told me over the phone (which I aired on FLY FM), that although she has apologized via DM and email, Zee Avi blocked her on twitter.

Now this is not the first time i've heard of Zee Avi snubbing people, i could safely say, it's a known 'rumor'. Regardless, being a victim of rumors in the past, i know how it feels and therefore i will not judge both ladies.

HOWEVER, despite saying that, i do think that a sense of humility shown by another human being should be treated with respect and not be shunned. It takes a big person to apologize and a bigger person to accept the apology.

Apart from a little drama, AIM 17 was so much fun. I sat and partied with my coolest brother, Hafiz, and even rocked the after party. We danced and danced and then danced some more.

Really hope one day i could rock it on stage with my music.

(*) Kembara Award is given to a local act who is signed locally and has brought their music to an international scene through various mediums. Performances overseas is also looked at in terms of what audience the artiste attracts for e.g.: Not just a performance for Malaysian students overseas.

I'm tanned and i just got back from my hunnymoon in Mauritius,
bask in these photos with me.

'One Island, many peoples, all Mauritians!'
All religions live in peace on the small island, the one thing they have in common is the main language they speak: french.

In Mauritius, we learned how to make war ships,
only kidding. We went sightseeing and stopped by at this factory.

Kinda look like shoes, but they're not. Every boat/ ship has to be calculated precisely
according to the blueprint, so to be a mini ship maker, you have to be patient and good eyes are a must!

Food wise, we had French, Creole and a lot of Northern Indian dishes.

holidays get him excited with the camera.

I can breathe a huge sigh of relief now that the wedding on my side is over,
phew. It was seriously good fun planning and spending all that time with my family and best friends.

Ladies and gentlemen, would like to urge you to get married to that person who loves and understands you. Most importantly, someone who would not stop you from chasing your dreams. Alhamdulillah, that person is Khairul Azhar for me.

Ok, now with some angpow money i have gotten from the wedding, hubby (mr. ehem) adviced me to spend it on something i like for myself as a little gift.

Putrajaya Night Marathon

It was the first ever night marathon in Malaysia and i was kiasu

about signing up to take part. The idea of running in the night with pumped adrenaline naturally fueled me. (++ Fly Fm's fully supporting this marathon.)

The outfit i wore: Reebok white baggy's and training shoes. In the photo is Yenn, she works with Alamanda and she helped settle everything re:the registration, the 5.5km Fun Run etc.

Here is Mr. Ehem, he ran with us too. In the photo, he helped carry my Reebok shoe carrier.

In the midst of the run, I had to stop and take a photo of the scenery behind me. However, the flash setting for my Canon Ixus was too bright and it only captured a glimpse of the city lights.

Why you faced the wrong way girl? kehkeh.

Soon as we reached the finishing line, we got this... *tara, official Fun Run certificates. Heard there's another one in March. Perhaps i could go for the 15 km next time.

IM actually not a camera person at all.

The nature of my work drives me to be a cam-w**re,

but truthfully, i think cameras make ppl act. A pretense that hey, everything is okay.

I remember this day.

My sister and I were so excited to sweat it out by taking our bikes around the area in Damansara, we got geared up and felt adrenaline pumping through our veins.

ACTING: 'Kononnya' picking her nose.

That day we cycled for half hour and then it started pouring mad rain.

I was annoyed.

Being on the road armed only with my iPhone, i didnt wanna take photos.

Scared. Angry. You'll only see us with glum faces.

I'm sure if there was a camera man taking photos of us in that situation,

we'd be making funny faces!

Anyway, here's another instance:

I was invited to sing at the launch of Nona (TV3's famous ladies show) introducing their new host, Maya Karin. It was also Celebrity Fitness 5th Anniversary and as my gym sponsor, they've invited me to present an award.

I was pressed for time.

Of course being a professional, i informed the cool ladies of Nona of my predicament

and they understood that i had to limited time to linger after my performance.

Straight after this performance, i packed my things, mingled for a good 10 minutes, our big boss (Dato' Farid) was standing up showing support while i sang! Spoke to some media friends, hugged the ladies of Nona and TV3 reps goodbye and dashed straight to Celeb Fitness event.

It was all the way in Sunway and i was coming from a hotel in KL.

BAH. Anyhoo, from then on, no photos on my end because i got to the event a little late,

and Michael of Celebrity Fitness said I had missed my cue and they got a replacement.

Haiyaaa. Sometimes, these uncaptured moments are usually the most real. Perhaps a hidden camera that captures other emotions apart from 'happy' should be invented?

AJL 24 this year, explosive!

Last Sunday night, i went to AJL 24.

Standing ovation to Primeworks team for doing such a good job!

It was truly a feast to the eyes.

Also, i was blessed to have been invited to walk the red carpet and they sat me third row from the front, stage left. So, so close. Thank you!

This is Anne of Hot Fm, the entire Hot Fm team was running around, doing outdoor broadcast etc. Weekends are usually like this, fun events to host.

Have you met our boss? This is Dato' Farid, the most approachable boss person i've ever met.

This is what i wore to AJL 24, a Nurita Harith dress! Just love her creations from the get-go.

Nurita is actually from Project Runway and she has her own store in Jalan Telawi, Bangsar.

When they announced Faizal Tahir as the 2nd runner up,

literally, everyone was on their toes. Hujan? Bunkface?

NO!! It was my girl, Yuna! Her loop intro before she sang 'Dan Sebenarnya' was AMAZING.

Truly well deserved. And then.... the moment came.

I'm sure you know by now, Aizat won with the song 'Pergi'.

Originally written in English by Pete Teo called ' I Go', the song was translated in malay by Amran Omar. The performance was mesmerizing, Aizat truly captured the essence of the song.

Heartfelt and organic.

OKAY, i'll be honest with you.
My new year celebration was crappy, I LOVE MY FAMILY.
But the dinner we went to (expensive buffet spread + fireworks)
was beyond horrendous. WE suffered.

Of course i didnt let that deter the beginning of 2010, i had NEYO to look forward to!!
He was in FLY FM. What a day.

KL Dragons National Anthem

We've never had a professional basketball team in Malaysia and 2009 marks the first year of Asean Basketball League!

KL Dragons went against Thailand Tigers that day and to officiate the event, i was honored to sing the national anthem right before the game commenced.

The above video is the footage of me singing our national anthem 'Negaraku'.

Opening act: KLDC drums up a storm.

Soon after the singing was done, KL Dragons kicked off the b-ball game and WONNNN!!!!

It was an amazing experience to watch a basketball game live, definitely a different feeling than watching a football match.

I started 14th November with an outdoor broadcast at Central Park Avenue, 1 Utama @ 12pm.
Every 15 minutes, all our friends started to arrive. Yuna was the first person Phat Fabes and i interviewed, she was blur and sweet as usual. hehe.
This time around, it was Fabes' turn to bully us. Knowing we were previously from a girl group (Yuna, myself and a few more girlfriends) he put us on the spot and asked us both to harmonize 'Rasa Sayang'. It sounded all over the place, as we predicted.

I passed my camera to one of my colleagues, Mira, and this was the first photo she took. It just had to be my *ss.
But then the photos got better, this was taken from the side of the stage..

I thanked Mira for the effort, but later I was lucky to get this shot from the stage whilst hosting with Jules and Nadia. If you were in the crowd when i took this, see your hand anywhere?
Now, i was away all week as the team prepared for Flyniversary, had to host Prima Radio Business Club Seminar.. so you can say i've been a little out of the loop. Regardless, i kept myself updated. Check the radio I had in the hotel room! Tuned into to FlyFm of course...

Back to Flyniversary, i got cash from Joe Flizzow. Would love to fly to Kartel Country to spend this now. But i only have 5 dollars.... how?

The Orchestra & 3R

How lucky was i last weekend?
Last saturday, my best-friend-sister, Reem, brought a few of us to watch 'Carmen' the orchestra
@ KLCC performed by Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO.)

She got tickets from her employer for the Gambus Suite worth RM2,000 ++,
who wouldn't jump at this chance right? It was an amazing experience, small town girl
living big city dreams.

During intermission, we took some photos in the rest & relax private room,
canapes and refreshments were served during this time, but we were caught up taking pictures mostly.

I truly felt like Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl, the whole get dressed up thing and heading to the opera. Hehe.
D and Reem are my best friends! Sasha was in Europe, she's my other sister missing.
Thank you Reem for the tickets! (It was her birthday too.)

The next day, I had a performance for 3R's Futsal Tournament @ Sports Planet Ampang.
This was our get-up for the first song from my EP, 'Suara'.

The shoot today was different than others I've been on... you gotta keep your eyes on the lookout for The Star paper real soon..

Here is the garlic chicken (made with cherry tomatoes and green pepper/ capsicum.)

It was shot outdoors and the flame felt real hot on my face, the wind was blowing it like 'whooo, whooo..'

Tadaaa! One minute i'm cooking, the next i'm eating. The end product of my outdoor cookout.

So you had a relaxing weekend going to open houses and visiting friends and family?
Well, your girl sort of worked hard especially on Sat & Sunday.
No complaints though, I spoke at a private beauty workshop organized by Cosmopolitan & Shu Uemura.

Later i had to prepare for D Ultimate Bday Bash, hosted by (below, Liang!) and myself.

Liang wanted me to wear white, black and pink (like his outfit)... i complied at first. In the end,
my ensemble turned out to be this 20s meet 80s glam look. Jacket by Nurita Harith.
The rest is a little mix of all sorts.

World, this is my baby sister/ hypewoman @ the show, Ami. I told her to tear her leggings like a rat was angry and bit into it. Good job sis.

Shu Uemura does my make up usually, but my baby cousin Faressa helped touch up my eyes real good, loved how she teased my hair too. If you want to get her contact, you could get at me via email and i'll pass it on!

I kicked off the performance part of the night with my girls. Wooh, felt the love during the show.

Ah, there's nothing better like home cooked food.
See, my mother is a strong minded, career woman who's always been very active
at work strategizing and planning yearly projects for her company.

Throughout the years of moi growing up, she rarely cooked. In fact, the last time she made
something for the whole family was in times of desperation; we helped a relative house-sit and she cooked mee hoon soup. This was 12 years ago. I still remember the dish.

Perhaps her interest in making food got lost along the way of her successful career,
busy minds work in gajillion mysterious ways. I was pleasantly surprised when she announced to me a few days ago, 'Hunny, I cooked', mama said with a glint in her eye.

Thank you mama, i appreciate all your effort. Sorry i didnt eat your fried chicken and daging kunyit ( I dont eat meat, you see.) Your soup was MMMMM though..

In other news, i found Ben's wallet on the floor during our weekly meeting and opened it, this is tadaaaa! his driver's license photo. The hair was definitely inspired by Devon Sawa, remember that actor?

12 hours to hit Kelate'

It was indeed a long journey to Kelate', we left at 3am and arrived at 3pm.
Poor drivers of the family, i was lucky to have been chauffeured driven,
nyehe. Thank you Babo, Abe (Hafiz), Ami & Awe.

Raya in Kelate' was indeed glorious and as much as i wanted to wear the scarf to respect the religion and culture, my aunts told me to just be myself... and I concurred.

1st day raya and my younger siblings was obviously doing this for the duit raya. Abe, my elder brother in red, was acting uninterested because his turn was next to give the two goons, ehem, the colorful notes they desire.

My dad's sister, Aunt Hateemah, cooked up a feast for us throughout our stay.
1st day raya - Nasi Dage' (in the photo i'm enthusiastically taking photos of the spread.)
2nd day raya - Nasi Kerabu
3rd day raya - Laksam (Laksa Kelate')

It is of a tradition for families to visit the deceased on the first day of raya and recite prayers.
I'm in an actual scarf here (in orange) reciting Al-Fatihah.

Hanin (one of my younger cousins) share a dimple on each side.
She was really cute; she kept a tab of how much everyone gave duit raya to her in a small little notebook. What a young skilled accountant.

Here's all of us, you could see the food and drinks everywhere and the line of cameras on the bench. If i remember correctly, here's what everyone brought:

Nadia -- marinated lamb (which Ben criticized.)
Ben -- soft drinks.
Phabes -- marinated lamb from Jusco
Hafiz - - Curry puff
Steve -- Satay
Prem -- his mama's mutton
Jules -- Bread & Butter pudding.
Adam boy - he made pizza. whoaa. not really.
Vick Trooper -- cupcakes
Basil -- chicken bbq
moi -- lasagna.

LOTS of food went around, and later we were treated to a magic show, freaky.
Magic freaks me.

Beef Lasagna & Tomyam Chicken Lasagna.

Tomyam paste and chicken ( i stir fried it and then slapped it on the tray.)
It was way too salty, next time dont put too much tom yam paste. Mistake, mistake.

For the tomyam chicken lasagna, i layered it with mozarella cheese,
green pepper, chicken sausages and tom yam chicken.

It looks good, this was right before it hit the oven.
Like i said earlier, go easy on the tomyam paste! Very important.

This was the base for the beef lasagna, a thin layer of tomato, basil and garlic sauce.

The beef lasagna resting in the oven for 23 minutes.

Beef lasagna turned out good. I layered it with beef sausages & cheese.
Next time i wanna put beef pepperoni & mushrooms.
(I dont even eat beef, I make it for the beef lovers in my family.)

BAM. The tom yam chicken lasagna which turned out looking good,
golden brown... but the taste was a working progress! Lol.

p/s: i have yet to try the mushroom oat rice and rice cooker chicken taught to me by Maria Cordero @ AFC event. SOON as i get the rice cooker, i'll try and make it.

This was the first show i ever hosted! TV3's Rexona No Sweat Dance Challenge.
At the time i was still in university and was in the heat of my PR & Journalism degree
(think it was during my semester break)

The show went on for two seasons, thanks for giving me the gig TV3.
It's quite funny now, i am actually working in the building (for Fly Fm.)

Imagine 09/09/09. It was officially declared Radio Day for Malaysia and we were excited
to have 1 half of the radio outfit everyone truly misses. Fly Guy would have been around too
if he weren't in London.

As a school girl, literally i would get up every morning, approximately at 6am, put on the radio and busy myself to prepare my school uniform, books and breakfast before heading out to SRK Damansara Utama forcing my mum to put on the radio just so i could laugh & nod my head a little to LIL KEV & FLY GUY's schpiel on everything.

The influence came at a young, young age. I knew radio was powerful, it definitely affected my stance in seeing things in a different light. They were my friends even though the only way i could reach them was through turning the radio on every morning and sometimes reading articles of them in newspapers & magazines.

(Would have been great to meet Fly Guy in person though, he started Fly Fm!)

I was at an Asian Food Channel Event!

I was invited to attend a special cooking demonstration with Asian Food Channel @ Berjaya University College of Hospitality today.

You wouldn't believe how i got invited.. The Star article which quoted me being a fan of the channel! Thanks Chia Ying.

“Cooking, to me, is about making people happy. My dishes are very chef’s gourmet style; I learnt them from the Asian Food Channel (AFC) on television."

She whipped rice cooker ginger garlic & soya sauce whole chicken, mushroom oat rice, asam boi bitter gourd & mushroom cappucino (amazing & healthy!) in the span of 25 minutes.

She used a rice cooker to cook a whole chicken and made the stuffing with these ingredients:
Garlic (very little)
Ginger
Soya sauce
Spring Onions
Shallots

The chicken took 23 minutes to cook and it smelled deliciously amazing.

I was floored with her personality. She told us her life story and you cant help but to be amazed with how beautiful her aura exudes.

I could just listen to her, perhaps help her cook one day for my own TV show on AFC. -_-

She even entertained the guests with a few songs, she sang two traditional songs and even did a hip hop number! Again, i was floored. Later she told us she's flying to NY soon to sing at Obama's party. The audience simultaneously went, 'wow...'

AFC, Rahayu Kamal of Alice George Communication & the whole team, Berjaya University & all the amazing people i met today, thank you for a wonderful time. I'm going to try some of the dishes this week! Mushroom oat rice & ginger garlic soya sauce chicken...

I was invited to represent Flyfm with Prem yesterday, the announcement
was held at the JPM (Jabatan Perdana Menteri) in Putrajaya for the 1Malaysia Press Conference.

It was thrilling to be in the same room with our nation's leaders and big names in the industry.
Imagine = Hunny Madu in the same viccinity as Dato' Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak, Datuk Seri Utama Dato' Rais bin Yatim, Datuk Siti Nurhaliza, Maya Karin, Faizal Tahir and more..

Officially, we have two 1Malaysia songs now. 1 written by Kementerian Penerangan and another chosen by the public (you!) for 'Malaysia Satu' sung by Faizal Tahir. This of course was initiated by none other than my kakak and abang of Hotfm (www.hotfm.com.my), Fara Fauzana and Faizal FBI.

EVEN though my song was not chosen to be in the finals (it wasn't appropriate to be a 1malaysia song anyway come to think of it) I think the track will insyallah, be my future single.

I have never learned and understood so clearly in the span of 3minutes plus of footage.
That's exactly how long it took for me to be absorbed into Amir Muhammad's short film called 'The Tree'.

of Salmon Sambal and Mee Hoon Tom Yam

Wahey this is going to be an unorthodox post since i've never blogged about food. Truth is, i love to cook! The mixture of spices creating taste intrigues me.
Here's something i accidentally cooked for my family yesterday, 2nd day puasa break fast meal.
Take a little bit of mee hoon, soak in water.

Add a few big spoons of tom yam paste, this one is tangy and a little spicy.
Fry the mee hoon, try using olive oil and add a little anchovies and prawns.
I also added some basil leaves for that Thai touch.

THE RESULT
OKAY, tipu sunat. These are the kind of dishes i aspire to make in the future.

My salmon sambal in the oven. I marinated two big pieces of salmon with sambal and a dash of lime for about two hours before tossing in the oven for 15 minutes. Yup, thats all it takes. Oh ya, dont forget to chop some garlic and onions for that extra flavour when you marinate.

Salmon Sambal, taste better than it looks.

Put your appetite on the table for Madu has cooked something......

Couldnt help but to admire her innocent face closely.
Was at Leena and Sufi's wedding a couple of days ago, this was the relative's baby i held briefly. HER EYES. OH HER EYES.

Meet Leena.
The wedding was held at her house in Ampang, upacara perkahwinan ini sangat 'simple' dan berkonsepkan keluarga yang besar = very heartwarming.

This photo below, she was supposed to greet her new husband and invite him in, and then they are led to an area where they sit and smile = we call it 'bersanding'.

last Saturday.

i learned later that night, Yasmin Ahmad passed away @ 11.25pm.
Al-Fatihah to the great story teller of Malaysia.
Here's my tribute quote to her:

"Without realizing, Yasmin Ahmad created the One Malaysia concept since the beginning through her ads and movies. If Malaysia is to be remembered through visual art, Yasmin Ahmad's name deserves to be on top of the list."

WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE AND REMEMBER WHAT YOU HAVE DONE FOR US.

I am a team player (well more like an art teacher!)

We're all preparing for Fly Fm's Back To School this Saturday @ Tropicana City Mall, 2-5pm, Pagi Show and Rush Hour gonna be taking the PMR exams to see who's the smartest!
There's been spit - spatter from both parties on air, but i say the empty vessel usually makes the most noise.... no?

Rumors are: ALL of their real PMR results will be posted at the venue on the day. COME and support us there, i'm going to be hosting it with Steve (the Pendidikan Jasmani teacher.)

i watched the award show with sniffles and a toothache at home.

I was truly happy when Flyfm Pagi Show won the category,
wahey it's our first Shout Award!

Then the time came for Coolest Radio Announcer,

Was really looking forward to seeing Sean Kingston rock the show, but I HAVE TO SAY.
He could have put in at least 25% effort in the performance.

Nevertheless, Shout Awards was possibly the most entertaining and laidback award show on 8TV. The post Saturday lunch was all about Shout Awards, everyone wanted to have a piece in dissecting the event. I think it's created quite an impact.

I WOULD LOVE TO PERFORM @ Shout Awards NEXT YEAR.

Aine came over to flyfm last week with Matematik (peep their song in campur chart, 'Dansa di Angkasa') and blogged about the experience. I am deeply humbled with the statements she made on the blog and it made me blush like laughing infant.

Think that was the first time he tried playing a record on a turntable like that.
So yes, the photo is mere depiction of a good pose.

Post father's day present, my brother and I brought him to check out two places in KL, Low Yatt and a tiny shop behind Lot 10 for these spinners. Result? Based on his choice, we're going to get a classic vinyl player, one that doesn't attract a person to scratch an old record.

He's got loads at home, Motown classics, you name it! I'm envious.

When i first started doing photo shoots with press; Harian Metro, Media Hiburan, Berita Harian, etc.. alot of journalists said i look like Scha Al-Yahya and i have to admit, i caught the first episode of 'Awan Dania' and her tomboyish character reminded me of myself!

It was not until last Friday night @ Parti Selebriti Kosmo, I was introduced to her and we clicked instantly. She's one of those real people you could talk to, very opinionated, comfortable with herself and most importantly, not made of plastic.

Got big love for Scha, it'll be fun to have a shoot with her!

The house went through a small renovation recently uncovering a bunch of old vinyls he and my mum collected back in the 1970's.

No photos yet, we're going to the shop to purchase it today.

Perez Hilton filed for police report claiming Black Eyed Peas' manager attacked him physically after verbally assaulting Will I Am.
He called Will I Am. 'You're a faggot Will...' numerous times in front a club in Toronto, Canada.

Giving this blog space entirely to the nombor 1 man in my life,
BABO. (in photo, mama as well.)

The endearing term, Babo, is strongly rooted in Kelantan; where he is from. Strong, sensitive yet expressive, this man is made of quality. He has 10 siblings, and is the 5th child. Babo's father was an 'Imam' in a nearby masjid in Pasir Putih, Kelantan and he delivered nothing but strictness and discipline in raising his children.

Babo followed suit in this pursuit of raising his four kids. We were thought not to eat candy, drink tea or coffee (til we were 18 so it wouldn't ruin our teeth) and read a lot of books. Every Thursday night, we would recite Quran verses with him and he would correct our pronunciation.

School days, this man would perfect our linguistics. Through him, I mastered the art of expressing. I represented my school in reciting poetry (sajak), debate team, 'nasyid' group and even lead the choral speaking team.

He is made of gold.

Throughout my teenage adolescent years, i was hard to control. He made me fall flat on my face each time i strayed. I went out way too late, hung out with naughty types and rebelled every minute just to stir reaction.

This phase lasted until the last two years of my degree.

I'm 3 years over graduating, I'm doing good.
I'm doing what i love most; Radio & TV Hosting and carving my music.

He even let me use my nick name to shake things up, he doesn't wanna take credit.
But today, i am not Hunny Madu.

I am HANI HATIM.
I am HANI FARHANA BINTI MOHD HATIM.

I'm proud.

To the extent of him nodding his head down in gratitude
when i congratulated him on the big win.

So nice.

I wasn't exactly sure what he was about to shoot,
seeing how there was a camera crew set up waiting to press the red button.

I was in for a real treat,
it wasn't just this one award i got to view up close and personal,

I made friends with the rest of the awards he's received.

Upon snapping this photo for me,
he says, "Someday it'll be yours babe."

I quickly snapped back in my mind, "If i work hard enough."

A man called me up

With this heavily accented American/ Canadian voice,
claiming he is Ross Wallace from so and so, wanting me to be
on the cover issue of their magazine.

Having pranked by a friend just two days before, i immediately
thought it was another game.

So i laughed at the caller and said,
"OKAY. WHO is this la? Very funny youuuu."

Ross Wallace then said, "Um no, Ms Hunny Madu. This is certainly Ross Wallace,
the editor of Tiger Tales Magazine from Singapore."

Abrupt silence. And then,
"Oh. How nice, go on....."

And so it all took place,
the make up, hair and discussions on what to do in KL in 48 hours.

Our AirAsia plane landed in LCCT, Kuala Lumpur round 3.30pm.
As always, everyone would immediately get up and rush to get their bags,
but there was an interjection:

"Please be seated, ladies and gentlemen, the plane has not come to a full stop."

Most of us sat, but there were a few strays.
Another interjection:

"Please, our engine is still running, we need you to be seated."

Just a nano-second after this was mentioned,
a co-pilot/ steward must have grabbed the mic for he mentioned in the
most sarcastic-drama tone,

"Kalau jatuh, bangun sendiri ya!"

translation: "If you fall, don't expect us to help you up".

Wow, are we really in a third-world country?
That statement was uncalled for, and simply put, plain rude.

Sorry Dato' Tony Fernandez, i'm just venting.

And so i'm back in this beautiful viccinity eagerly waiting for tonight.
I've had my nice relaxing jacuzzi bath in the afternoon, waiting for soundcheck, hair and make up.. but soon after, crunch time hits.

Together with my Mtertain entourage, comprising of my WHOLE family (elder brother missing), Abang Kudin (music director) and Eleena (photographer), we are all counting down to 2009 with a schbam slam.

I'm singing for 1 & 1/2 hours = Cool.

I've been prepping long for this show.
